Untitled poem by xbuthomeis_nowherex
We held hands on our last night on earth.
Roads of lilies and the flower of life were before us,
Forked roads on the path to Fate.
We kissed in the fields and under stars,
And the moon cried fire flies.
Before we could say good-by,
A hail of silver bullets pierced our hearts,
And we bled dark into the leaves.
Through the city we traipsed,
But no city lights illuminated you eyes,
And no life could be found,
For everyone floated at the bottom of your mind.
Our carcinogenic passion burnt out at the end of the ride.
A few insects skittered away as the coaster came to a stop.
I said, "We may never ride again."
And you asked me to jump into the water with you,
But I wasn't ready to drown again.
So you realized the air was much better above the sea.
Stars shattered like time-worn windows,
So I picked up the shards and built you a house you could never love.
I put my heart into a glass vase and wished for yours.
Tears fell and mixed with the moons, creating roses.
Petals died away,
And on each one the words "I love you"
melted and turned to grey.
